Redesign The Down Screen For Twitter

Twitter has a popular downtime screen to let users know that the site is overcapacity. Called the Fail Whale, it shows a whale being playfully airlifted by Twitter birds, with the short error message below.

The purpose of this assignment was to create a different Twitter downtime message and graphic using the voice we were assigned in class.

The Results

A Message You Can Trust

The voice that my group was assigned was “trustworthy”.

We decided to use a “pinky-promise” message. The cultural sign of the pink promise symbolizes a playful pact between friends. The icons of the pink promise are below a symbol for internet connectivity. I think it sends a clear message immediately upon seeing it.
